I can’t think of a more important time to document than your baby’s first day or two of life. They change so quickly and there is something so sweet about photos of them at this stage.
Deeter Family
I was so excited when Kaitlyn contacted me about doing some maternity and family photos, and then even more excited when she mentioned the idea of doing them downtown. I’ve never done a family session downtown before but have wanted to. They were the perfect family for this kind of session and even their outfits coordinated perfectly with the vibrant hues of downtown Wilson.
We can’t wait to welcome sweet baby Lucy Kate into the world!
Cain Family
This was my third session with this precious family. I first photographed their maternity and family photos when they were expecting baby Grayson, then got to do his newborn pictures, and now he is 6 months and his big sister is 4. They wanted some updated pictures to celebrate these milestones and I was so excited to document that for them.
ProjectTEN April
March and April were strange months with lots of work, preschool activities, my birthday, a kid-free weekend away, appointments, a crazy wind storm, and some warm sunshine. It was kind of a mish-mash of everything, just like my set this month.

Thorndyke Family
It seems like just yesterday that I did sweet baby Emerson’s newborn photos. Now here she is, 6 months old! Her mama wanted some photos to document this age and also just some pretty spring family photos. We were blessed with a warm gorgeous evening, and I got the most adorable smiles from this little girl.
I cannot tell you how excited I am that spring has finally arrived and that we’re seeing a little color around here. What a perfect session to kick this season off.
Shoot & Share Photo Contest 2017
A friend and fellow photographer introduced me to the shoot & share photo contest this year. It’s the world’s largest free photo contest. It’s done in a fair way that you are given 4 random images at a time to choose the best one out of. Then you are given 4 more, and so on. No names or information are with each photo so you can’t get by on name recognition alone, and you can’t link large groups or friends to your specific images to get votes that way. There were over 300,000 submissions this year! I decided to enter and am pleased to say that I had several do well. Here are my results:
Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I was proud to be a part of. I am excited to see if I can top myself next year.

ProjectTEN February
I’m so glad to be back for my second month of projectTEN! I’ve had more time to get it together this month. I’ve been shooting a lot this month, trying new things in the safe confines of personal work. I’ve had a lot of “wow, trash that immediately” and then some “oh! that actually looks pretty good!”. Feeling good with just the right amount of being challenged and stretched without feeling frantic or overwhelmed. Here is this month’s set.
